1983 – 1990

In this period I lived on Curaçao, Dutch Caribbean, and in Indonesia. A great number of paintings came about in the Carribbean where I tried to catch the light and colours. Inspired by the colourful and frenzied land- and townscapes I made works with oil and knife, abstract and figurative. These paintings were shown in the Curaçao Museum, the Avila Beach Hotel and Gallery Eighty-Six on the island. Time was tide in Indonesia where I made four sawa paintings trying to catch the receptive atmosphere of watery ricefields, blue mountains and open skies.
